NEW DELHI: Former Punjab chief and current state Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh has rebuffed the Canadian High Commissioner in New Delhi by refusing to meet him.
Capt Amarinder Singh is angry after Canada for disallowing him to convass among the Punjabi diaspora last month. He cancelled his visit to Canada and shot an angry letter to Canadian PM Justin Trudeau to protest against their decision to ban his rallies in Canada.
Canadian high commissioner Nadir Patel wanted to smoothen out the issue with Capt Amarinder Singh. But the Amritsar MP is no mood as he has told the Canadian high commissioner that he doesn’t see any purpose will be served by their meeting.
Rejecting the offer of the envoy to meet him, Capt Amarinder Singh has written back, “Thank you for offering to meet me. I do not think anything further will emerge from such a meeting as I have already expressed my views.’’
