NEW DELHI: A woman devotee of Indian godman Asaram Bapu, who filed a case against the godman’s son Narayan Sai earlier this month for fraudulently marrying her to one of his disciples in 2004 and molesting her when she went to complain to him (Sai) against her husband, has now given more details of her alleged sexual abuse by Narayan Sai.
“On January 29, 2005, when I went to Sai’s farmhouse to complain about the harsh treatment being meted out to me by my husband (and his devotee ) Ishwar Wadhwani, Sai touched me inappropriately and said he wanted to have oral sex with me,” Reena Wadhwani has alleged in a TV interview.
According to 37-year-old Wadhwani, when she went to meet Sai at his private chamber on that night (when she was sexually abused), he was in the company of seven to eight other women.
She said, “I had gone to complain that my husband and in-laws were forcing me to abort my child. Sai tried to pacify me by telling that I should follow what my husband says. He then started doing bad things to me in presence of other women.’’
After the woman’s complaint, Narayan Sai, her husband Ishwar and four face charges of cheating, intimidation and criminal conspiracy. The case comes up hearing on October 4.
If found guilty, Narayan Sai faces up to 10 years in jail.
Reena Wadhawani says she mustered courage to file the case after godman Asaram Bapu was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl.
