NEW DELHI: IIT Delhi, IIT Mumbai and IIT Madras have been listed among the top 50 institutes globally in at least one subject, in a new ranking.
As per the ranking by the QS World University Rankings by Subject, the Indian Institute of Science is also among the top 50.
In the ranking, IIT Delhi is ranked 42nd in electrical engineering, IIT-Bombay 49th also in electrical engineering and IIT Madras 50th in civil engineering. The Indian Institute of Science is ranked 46th in materials science.
“The IITs continue to perform well in their specialist areas and the inclusion of three of them in the global top 50 in the engineering disciplines shows that they are starting to achieve genuine international renown,’’ according to QS research leader Ben Sowter said.
Indian universities fare badly in arts, humanities and social sciences in the ranking, with only IIT-Bombay listed among the top 200 in arts and humanities disciplines.
