NEW DELHI: India’s WWE wrestling champion The Great Khali, who was injured in a wrestling mathc at Haldwani in Uttarakhand on Wednesday, has not suffered any serious damage.
The wrestler, whose real name is Dalip Singh Rana, was hit on the head with a chair by two foreign wrestlers – Mike Knox and Brody Steel during the fight at Haldwani’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. It was the first show of ‘The Great Khali Returns Series’ which aims to promote wrestling in India.
Khali was seen bleeding profusely after being hit with the chair as he fell off the ring. He was given stitches to his head and airlifted to Dehradun for closer examination by specialists.
Later, Khali left with his head heavily bandaged and a cervical collar supporting his neck.
The second match of the series is on Feb 28.
Khali was quoted as saying, “I am recovering from the injury and will take part in a wrestling match on 28th February.”
