NEW DELHI: The woman journalist, who has accused her boss and Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal of sexually assault her twice during the `Think fest’ of the magazine in Goa earlier this month, now says her family is under pressure and intimidation from Tejpal.
The young woman journalist, who happens to be the daughter of Tarun Tejpal’s friend, said on Saturday that someone from Tarun’s family visited her mother on Friday to seek her help to bale out the Tehelka boss.
In a statement, the victim said, “On the night of November 22, 2013, a member of Mr. Tejpal’s immediate family came to my mother’s house in New Delhi, asking my mother to protect him. “I call upon all persons connected to Mr. Tejpal and his associates to refrain from approaching me or my family members.’’
The young woman, who was hired by Tarun Tejpal because she is his friend’s daughter, said, “This visit has placed tremendous emotional pressure on my family and I at an intensely traumatic time. I fear this may be the beginning of a period of further intimidation and harassment.’’
The woman journalist has alleged that she was sexually assaulted twice by Tarun Tejpal in the elevator of of hotel in Goa on Nov 7 and 8 during the `Think fest’ organized by Tehelka.
Her complaint against Tarun Tejpal to Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury became public after the emails between Shoma, Tarun and the victim were leaked on Wednesday.
