MUMBAI: While Sonakshi Sinha was late for her own father’s 68th birthday dinner party, the Big B Amitabh Bachchan turned up on time, and that too after releasing Mary Kom’s autobiography Unbreakable and bantering with her on stage.
Just how he manages to please friends and foes while keeping on his overworked toes is a secret only the Big B can solve. Maybe he can give time-management tips to Sonakshi who seems to be running helter-skelter trying to keep pace with her impossible schedules.
Says a source from the Sinhas’ household, “Sonakshi was giving interviews for her new release R… Rajkumar until late in the evening. She had no time to freshen up and change. She went straight to the Sun ‘n’ Sand where her mother had organized a very exclusive dinner party for her dad’s birthday.”
Sonakshi was joined by her co-star Shahid Kapoor. But Prabhudheva couldn’t make it to the party as he was shooting with Ajay Devgn for his next film Action Jackson.
Incidentally, the Sun ‘n’ Sand is owned by Gulshan Arora who used to be part of Shatruji’s guy-and-gal gang in his heyday. Apparently, Gulshan insisted on hosting the party at his hotel.
It was quite an impressive if intimate turn-out at Mumbai’s popular Sun ‘n’ Sand hotel. The Sinhas’ close friend Subhash Ghai drove down all the way from Pune where he was shooting for Kanchi to be in Mumbai for his friend. Poonam Dhillon, one of Shatruji’s favourite co-stars, was also sported.
But the spotlight was on the Big B who walked in after another event looking fresh and energetic. He and Shatruji who once were at war, were seen huddled together in deep conversation.
The Bachchans have now been invited home by the Sinhas.
Says Mrs Punam Sinha, “Mr Bachchan didn’t know we had shifted back to our residence Ramayan after renovation. He’ll be home soon. The dinner was just for selected friends. We wanted Shatruji’s friends and colleagues to be there for the occasion.”
