CHANDIGARH: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar was bereaved on Monday when his youngest son Tejinderpal Singh Soni died at the Post-Graduate Institute (PGI) here.
The 37-year-old Soni was undergoing treatment for a liver infection. Makkar was at his bedside when Soni breathed his last.
Soni was cremated in Model Town, Ludhiana, on Tuesday as a large number of religious leaders, including the Akal Takht Keshgarh jathedar, and political leaders, including Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, joined the Makkar family in their bereavement.
Soni is survived by his wife, a three-year-old son, a 12-year-old daughter, his parents and two brothers.
The Makkar family belongs to Ludhiana.
Soni was rushed to the PGI after he developed complications of the liver. Doctors tried their best but it was too late.
