The Punjab government appointed Swapandeep Kaur, daughter of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh in Pakistan who died last month after an attack by fellow inmates in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail, as Naib Tehsildar on Tuesday.
The decision to appoint his daughter to the senior government job was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Parkash Singh in Chandigarh.
The Punjab government had declared Sarabjit Singh as a national martyr and given him a state funeral in his native Bhikiwind.
The chief minister has already given Rs 1 crore to the family when he distributed four cheques for Rs 25 lakh each to the sister, wife and two daughters of Sarabjit Singh at his bhog ceremony.
The state government has also promised to give a job to the other daughter of Sarabjit Singh. – News East-West Delhi desk.
