MUMBAI: Actor Sanjay Dutt, who is incarcerated at Yerwada Jail at Pune, will be given the job of making heavy weight paper bags which can carry weight of up to eight kg.
The actor is undergoing 42 months of his remaining jail term in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts.
The new job assignment comes after the actor’s plea to give him a heavy physical work so that he can keep him fit in the jail was rejected.
He is a high-risk prisoner, so the jail authorities denied his request as heavy work will expose him to other inmates.
Paper bag making will keep him indoors most of the time. For his daily labour, Sanju Baba will be paid Rs 25, which could be raised to Rs 40 a day later.
Apart from his daily wages, Sanjay is allowed a monthly allowance of Rs 1,5000 from his family.
During his last 18-month stint at the same jail in 1993-94 immediately after his arrest, Sanjay Dutt was given the task of making cane chairs.
