MUMBAI: With Sachin Tendulkar deciding to retire from international cricket after his 200th Test match, his IPL franchise Mumbai Indians have also decided to retire his No 10 jersey.
According to Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani, “I think it was a befitting tribute to our Master as we call him. Winning the IPL as well as the Champions League T20 in the same season is a great achievement. It’s a very emotional moment for us and we have decided to retire his No. 10 jersey.’’
Sachin has played for Mumbai Indians since the inception of the IPL in 2008 and been instrumental in their clinching of the IPL and Champions League trophies this year.
But there has been no word from the Board of Control for Cricket in India about retiring the jersey number of the master blaster.
With the retiring of his No 10 jersey, Sachin Tendular joins other sports legends such as Pele and Maradona whose No 10 jersey was also retired after them.
