NEW DELHI: Even as police in Surat – where two sisters have filed complaints of sex assault against him and his father Asaram Bapu – summoned Narayan Sai on Wednesday, he issued advertisements in some local papers claiming he was innocent.
Police sent the notice to Narayan Sai at his Surat ashram to report immediately to them on Wednesday.
But with his whereabouts are not known, the godman’s son issued advertisements in some local papers , saying he is not running away and will fight the charges.
“Our client has not gone away and will not run away,’’ said the advertisements issued by his lawyer Gautam Desai.
The advertisements called the rape cases against Narayan Sai fabrication and distortion of facts.
The younger of the two sisters has alleged in the case that she was repeatedly sexually assaulted by Narayan Sai between 2002 and 2006 when she was living in the godman’s Surat ashram.
And the elder sister has alleged that she was repeatedly sexually assaulted by the godman between 1997 and 2006 at his Ahmedabad ashram.
Godman Asaram Bapu, who since September 2 has been lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail in Rajasthan after his arrest for allegedly raping a 16-year-old student on August 15, is being brought to Ahmedabad after Gujarat police procured transfer warrants against him.
