BOLLYWOOD: The release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raaslila Raam Leela has finally stemmed the Krrish 3 tidal wave. A reliable source from a leading multiplex chain in Mumbai says that after the release of Ram Leela on Friday there’s been a considerable drop in the collections of Rakesh Roshan’s mega-blockbuster Krrish 3.
“But this was only expected,” says the source. “The release of Goliyon Ki Raaslila Ram Leela turned out to be big at the box-office.”
The film raked in over Rs 20 crores on the first day. Quite a number for a film that stars none of the A-lister heroes.
Says Bihar exhibitor Roshan Singh, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the hero of Ram Leela. Every frame has his stamp. People are coming in to see what Bhansali has done.”
Says trade expert Taran Adarsh, “Ram Leela has had an outstanding opening at both multiplexes and single screens. Saturday and Sunday will see huge collections. I also expect the film to open big overseas.”
Relieved and exuberant, Sanjay Leela Bhansali says, “I haven’t received so many congratulations in a while. Everybody is saying this is the kind of cinema they like to see me make. It’s a great feeling when your hard work pays off.”
