NEW DELHI (NEWS): Non-resident Indians (NRIs), seeking information under India’s Right to Information Act, can now pay their fee online while seeking such information.
The electronic version of Indian Postal Order, to be called eIPO, will make life easier for NRIs as they can pay online through credit card or any debit card powered by Visa or Mastercard.
All that an NRI has to do is to register on the website before applying for information under the Right to Information Act or RTI Act.
Till now this facility was available only to Indian citizens abroad.
In a statement, the Ministry of Communications and IT said, “The Department of Posts … today in association with Department of Personnel and Training launched Electronic Indian Postal Order (eIPO) to enable Indian citizens abroad to pay RTI fee online. This is a facility to purchase an Indian Postal Order electronically by paying a fee on-line through e-Post Office Portal.”
