NEW DELHI: Bollywood actresss Nagma, who is the Congress candidate from the Meerut parliament seat, has denied being kissed by her own party MLA or hitting someone in the crowd for trying to her grope during her campaign in the city last week.
With the 39-year-old actress reportedly threatening to never return to Meerut if this thing happens again and the Congress Party asking the Election Commission to provide her extra security, Nagma said, “Neither did anyone try to kiss me nor did I slap anyone.’’
She flatly denied that these incidents happened to her.
In the first of the two incidents caught on camera, Nagma was seen pushing away Congress MLA Gajraj Singh who reportedly tried to kiss her at an election rally.
In the second incident, Nagma is shown slapping a man in the crowd.
Making light of these incidents, Nagma said this kind of things happen when film stars mingle with crowds. “There is always a frenzy when actors go out in huge crowds,’’ she said.
Calling the incidents as “humbug’’ created by the media, Nagma, “He (Congress MLA Gajarj Singh) treats me like a daughter. He wanted to talk to me about something sensitive; he isn’t media savvy.’’
About the second incident when a man in the crowd reportedly tried to grope her, Namga said she was shown pushing away someone who was trying to come on to her.
Whatever may be Nagma’s explanation, rumours persist that the Congress leadership didn’t take action against its own MLA for trying to kiss her because he (Gajraj Singh) has a huge following in the Meerut constituency and could mar her chances.
