MUMBAI: The 23-year-old photojournalist, who was gangraped by five men in the abandoned Shakti Mills compound here in August, fainted when she came to identity and testify against the accused in the sessions court here on Thursday.
During the in-camera hearing, the victim identified four of the five accused and testified against them. She narrated the horrific incident in clear details and identified the pornographic clip shown to her during the brutal sexual assault by the four accused who stood in the court without showing any emotion or remorse.
The victim was accompanied by her mother. When she was in the witness box to testify against the five monsters, she complained of nausea and giddiness.
Public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam later said that her condition was perfectly normal by the evening. “She will come for the further in-camera (closed to public) deposition before the court again on Friday,’’ Ujjwal Nikam said.
A young trainee with a city magazine, the photojournalist was gangraped by the five monsters when she went with a male colleague to do feature on the desolated Shakti Mills on the evening on August 22. One the accused is a minor.
Her case outraged Mumbai and the entire country as it reminded India of the brutal gangrape of Nirbhaya in a Delhi bus in December.
