TORONTO: Well-known Indo-Canadian businessman Hemant Shah has been appointed as Managing Director for Middle East and Western Asia by Winnipeg Aviation to promote its international aviation services and commercial pilot training programme in that region.
Winnipeg-based Winnipeg Aviation is globally known for pilot training programmes for the past 35 years.
Announcing Shah’s appointment, Winnipeg Aviation president Capt. Dan Reeves, said in a press statement, “We are aggressively pursuing expansion in the Middle East, lndia, Bhutan, Nepal and Sikkim, and Mr. Shah’s coming on board will jump-start this process.’’
And Shah’s appointment is “a logical next step in the firm’s on-going expansion to become a full service provider to companies in those regions,’ as well as positioning the company as an experienced resource of North American aviation services to its clients,’’ he added.
Shah has been assigned the task of exploring opportunities for aircraft sales, aircraft appraisal services, engine and propeller overhaul service co-ordination as well as initiating pilot training programmes.
Capt Reeves said, “Mr. Shah not only shares our vision of aviation in the region but can (also) help us reach our goals sooner and with fewer difficulties. The economic growth in those regions, particularly in the aviation sector, the airline industry has put significant-pressure on their country’s limited pilot training resources.
“As well, the Middle East and Asia have shown that it does not have the capacity to meet the demands of its growing aviation sector. Winnipeg Aviation is positioning itself to be a significant player to provide new commercial pilots and to be an operational support provider to those regions.”
Shah, who divides his time between western Asia and Canada, has a deep knowledge of how business is done in that part of the world.
Known as “Mr. lndia” in business circles, he has been actively promoting business alliances between Canadian and Indian companies for decades.
