MUMBAI: Speaking openly for the first time after suicide by her actress daughter Jiah Khan on June 2, her mother Rabiya Khan said on Monday that her daughter was driven to take the extreme step because of the unrequited love.
Jiah Khan,2, was in a relationship with Suraj Pancholi, 22-year-old son of actor Aditya Pancholi, who has been arrested for abetting the suicide on the basis of a five-page note left by Jiah Khan in which she said that she was forced to aborted their child, and `abused.’
Brushing aside media reports that declining career was one of the causes of her suicide, Jiah mother told a press conference here, “She (Jiah) was attending at least three to four events a month. She was making money and was living comfortably in her house with two maids and even had a car and a driver. It was the insecurity that her love was not respected and recognised that was killing her day by day.
“My point is to tell you the truth. It is being said that she was depressed and had no work, but it was not the case.
“Jiah was a poet. She had a diary in which she wrote all her poems. I wanted my daughters to recite them at prayer ceremony, but we couldn’t find the diary. I couldn’t get myself to touch Jiah’s things, so I told my daughter (Kavita) to look. She had a Prada wallet box and her sister found the letter in it,’’ Rabiya Khan told media persons, giving her side of the events.
Rabiya Khan had moved to Mumbai to London with Jiah Khan as her daughter wanted to make a career in Bollywood. Jiah has two sisters Karishma and Kavita.
