TORONTO: Taj Mahal in association with Air Canada will be presenting Miss India-Canada 2016 beauty pageant on Saturday, November 12, at the International Plaza Hotel here.
The Miss India-Canada event is unique in many ways—delegates are judged on their Evening Gown, Talent, and their ability to speak in public. The show is focused on Indian arts and culture and at the same time blending into the Canadian mosaic. 16 finalists will compete for the title this weekend culminating in the CROWNING of MISS INDIA-CANADA 2016.
This year’s grand sponsor is Ethnic Channels Group. The event is also supported by: Om Financial, Bigen Speedy Hair Colour, Quality Street, and Lakeshore Convention Centre, to name a few.
Prizes this year include an international business class round-trip ticket to Delhi non-stop on Air Canada’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner, $2,500 in scholarship, hotel accommodation in New Delhi, and many more prizes. Several prizes will also be presented to runners-up. All the finalists will also have a chance to win the opportunity to model at the next SUHAAG wedding Show.
People can vote for their favourite delegate as the Air Canada People’s Choice winner. Delegate photographs and bios are live at: www.MissIndiaCanada.com. Voting will end on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 3pm. The winner of the ‘People’s Choice Award’ will be announced at the show.
The celebrity guest this year is singer, music producer and global icon, Dr. Zeus. Most recently, he sang the hit song Kamlee from the Shah Rukh-Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer, Happy New Year with Kanika Kapoor. He also lent his musical genius to the soundtrack of Sunny Leone starrer, Ek Paheli Leela. Known for his blend of raw Punjabi tunes and urban beats, Dr. Zeus rose to fame in 2003 with “Kangana” which was voted the best song on BBC Asian Network that year. Dr. Zeus will be presented the prestigious Special Achievement Award for his contribution to the global music industry.
As in previous years, it is a sold-out event as the popularity of the pageant spreads throughout Canada, India, and the US. The Miss India-Canada event is uniquely positioned to appeal to the South Asian community’s powerful sense of identity.
