NEW YORK: Hollywood couple Michael Douglas, 68, and Catherine Zeta, 43, announced on Wednesday that they have separated after 13 years of marriage.
The couple have not yet filed for divorce or legally separated. They `are taking time apart’ to `evaluate and work on their marriage.’
The star couple have been living apart and attending red-carpet events and galas separately since Michael Douglas’ return from the Cannes Film Festival.
The two met at the Deauville Film Festival in France in 1998 and got married in 2000. They have two children – Dylan, aged 13, and Carys, aged 10.
In 2010, Douglas was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2010, which he later claimed was caused by oral sex.
Zeta Jones too has been suffering from bipolar disorder since 2011.
