MUMBAI: David Dhawan’s comic film Main Tera Hero which had a decent opening on Friday with an earning Rs 6.6 crore on its first day, has collected Rs 24.42 crore in its first weekend.
The film collected Rs 8.07 crore on Saturday and Rs 9.75 crore on Sunday, taking its weekend collection to Rs 24.42 crore.
The film, which features his son Varun Dhawan, Nargis Fakhri and Ileana D’Cruz, opened on the back of a blast of pre-release publicity. However, box-office collection on the first day is not commensurate with the frenzy around this typically David Dhawan film.Friday’s semi-final between India and South Africa in T20 World Cup impacted the collection as people stayed away to watch the match.
But the crowds were back on Saturday and Sunday to watch the film.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor, Main Tera Hero is the Bollywood version of the Telugu film Kandireega.
