NEW DELHI: Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara has joined the elite club of 11000-run scorers in Test cricket.
The 36-year-old made to this club when he hit a career-best of 319 against Bangladesh on Wednesday on the second day of the second Test in Chittagong.
The gutsy Sangakkara now has 11046 runs from 122 Test matches and he is at number 9 on the list of top scorers in Test cricket.
Sachin Tendulkar with 15,921 runs from 200 Test matches leads the list, followed by Ricky Ponting (13378 runs from 168 Tests), JH Kallis (13289 runs from 166 Tests), Rahul Dravid (13288 runs from 164 Tests), Brian Lara (11953 runs from 131 Tests), DPMD Jayawardene (11308 runs from 143 Tests), Shivnarain Chanderpaul (11219 runs from 153 Tests) and Alan Border (11174 runs from 156 Tests).
India’s Sunil Gavaskar was the first to cross the 10,000-mark in Test cricket. He scored 10122 runs in 125 Test matches.
