NEW DELHI: After rejecting VIP security that he would be entitled to as chief minister of Delhi once he takes oath on December 28, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has also asked Uttar Pradesh Police to withdraw four cops posted at his Ghaziabad apartment.
Kejriwal lives in a unit in Girnar Apartment complex in the Kaushambi area of Ghaziabad on the outskirts of the Indian capital.
On Thursday, Kejriwal asked the four armed policemen posted outside his residence complex since Wednesday to go back as he doesn’t need any security.
Making the elimination of VIP culture as part of his agenda, Kejriwal has also refused to accept any VIP bungalow and government car. He still drives his Wagon R.
To fulfil his commitment to give a clean administration to Delhi, Kejriwal has also asked upright and honest officers who were victimized by the previous government to contact him.
“I also appeal to those honest officers (to contact me) who have been suspended, and their pension, medical and other dues have not been cleared so far. We would give such officers good position in our government, and take their help to make strategies,” Kejriwal announced at the so-called Janata Darbar at his party office in Kaushambi.
