MUMBAI: Bollywood diva Kajol turned 39 on Monday, August 5.
Born to actor Tanuja and film director Shomu Mukherjee in 1974, Kajol has given us such hits as Karan Arjun, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and My Name Is Khan opposite Shahrukh Khan.
In fact, Shahrukh and Kajol have been one of the most likeable jodis in Bollywood in recent times.
Kajol, who has acted in 35 films, has bagged the highest number of six Filmfare Awards by any actress in Bollywood so far. She was also honoured with the Padma Shree in 2011 by the government for her contribution to cinema.
Having married Ajay Devgn in 1999, Kajol has been raising her two children – daughter Nisha, 10, and son Yug, 3 – all these years and making occasional appearance on the small screen here and there.
This Bong babe has come a long way since opening her filmi career with Rahul Rawail’s Bekhudi opposite Shahrukh in 1992.
Interestingly, Kajol, who has done her major films with Yashraj Films, recently said that their relations are not congenial anymore.
This is due to the legal tussle between Yashraj Films and Ajay Devgn over the release of Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar last year.
Because of this, Kajol was not invited by Yashraj Films to the premiere of Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
“I supported my husband because he was right. It was not intended that way from our side, but it was taken personally. It is all so petty,” Kajol said recently.
