NEW DELHI: Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s decision to imitate the Aam Aadmi Party and reach out to the aam aadmi (common man) seems to have backfired.
A youth slapped the Haryana chief minister during a public meeting on roadside in Panipat on Sunday. The youth, who was later identified as Kamal Makhija, jumped at the chief minister and slapped him on his face.
The youth, who was immediately taken into custody, reportedly told the police that he wanted to highlight to the chief minister that despite paying a huge amount of bribe he was jobless. He said he held the chief minister responsible for his plight and hit him.
An inquiry into the security lapse has been ordered. Heads may roll as the Haryana Deputy General of Police has sought the list of the police officials who were responsible for the chief minister’s security.
