BRAMPTON: On a fine sunny Sunday of the Canada Day weekend festivities, Brampton Fairgrounds on Heartlake Road was host to a pumped-up super show of bulls and bikes as the country’s best came down to show off their prowess.
South Asian groups, including Indo-Canadians flocked to bulls and bikes show in large numbers.
Jordan Szoke from Brantford, Ontario, winner of several titles and the superbike champion of Canada, blew everybody’s minds away as he and his team undertook some serious bike jumping and dare-devil sky hurtles.
Twentyone bull-riders wowed the enthusiastic crowd by riding the bulls and showing off their skills with lassos. They even had a cowboy clown for the kids!
Indeed, it was a fun-filled stampede event right here in the GTA!
Along with the show, they also had face-painters doing up the countenances, arms and legs of children with the Canada Day Maple Leaf design in red and white. Plenty of food was available as well. Cowboy/cowgirl hats were also on sale for those who wanted to get into the mood.
A fair number of south Asians, including Paajis (Indo-Canadian Punjabis), Pakistanis and others, also flocked to the show, prompting a photographer from the mainstream media to say, ‘Good to see people from other cultures enjoying this!’
It was a fantastic mid-weekend treat for all the rodeo-goers.
