NEW DELHI: India will become the second biggest Internet user country in the world by the end of 2015.
The number of internet users in India is expected to reach 402 million by the end of the year, surpassing the US.
China leads the world with 600 million Internet users.
According to a report by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), the number of Intern users in the country will cross 402 million by December, posting a growth of 49 percent since last year.
Out of these 402 million Internet users, about 306 million will access internet from their mobile devices.
By June next year, the number of Internet users in India will reach 462 million.
The report says, “While the Internet in India took more than a decade to move from 10 million to 100 million and three years from 100 to 200 million, it took only a year to move from 300 to 400 million users. Clearly, internet is mainstream in India today.’’
