NEW YORK (NEWS): What helped Hillary Clinton keep up her stamina as Secretary of State for four years before she quit office?
Red hot chilis.
In an upcoming biography, Clinton reveals that the secret of her energy lies in red hot peppers, and she eats tons of them.
The biography by Kim Ghattas is titled `The Secretary: A Journey With Hillary Clinton from Beirut to the Heart of American Power.’
As Secretary of State, Clinton reportedly traveled about 1 million miles during her four-year term in Obama’s first term.
And it is only by eating hot chilis by the dozen that she could keep her globe-hopping schedules.
Ghattas told Politico how tough it was for her to keep up with Clinton during her travels with the Secretary of State.
“The daily regimen was exhausting. I mean, sometimes we started in one country, and at the end of the day, we’d be four countries down the line, six time zones difference, six taco salads down the road.
“She eats those hot chilis that make you sweat, and apparently, it’s one of the ways you can flush your system. It wakes you up. It flushes your system, maybe from whatever viruses are there.”
Hillary Clinton has said that she started eating hot chili in 1992 when she came to the White House as the First Lady. This habit grew over the years.
Ghattas says, “I think it was the desire (of Hillary Clinton) to do the job well. It’s what’s driven her for all these years. I don’t think it’s a secret to anyone that she works hard, does the homework.
“The impact of her travel, her relentless public diplomacy, was meant to reassert American leadership, to always be on the front page of papers everywhere, to improve the perception of America around the world.”
