MUMBAI: Siddharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra starrer Hasee Toh Phasee picked up momentum on Sunday, garnering Rs 7.30 crore at the box office.
After a tepid start on Friday, the film picked up at both single screens and multiplexes on Saturday, collecting Rs 5.75 crore.
But Sunday proved to be a big day for the film, taking its first weekend collection to Rs 18 crore.
The film, which has cost Rs 25 crore to produce, hit 2,000 screens across India on Friday.
Parineeti has come in praise for her role in the film, so has been Sidharth Malhotra who made his Bollywood with ‘Student Of The Year’ in 2012.
Co-producer Karan Johar is pleased with the response to the film so far.
In a tweet, Johar said, “Thank you for the immense love and appreciation for Hasee Toh Phasee, a film I am extremely proud of.’’
Directed by Vinil Mathew, the romantic comedy has been co-produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Productions.
“The opening day saw around 70 percent occupancy, but the figure went up to 80 percent on weekend. The occupancy is good, the film has been appreciated,’’ said Gautam Dutta, COO of PVR Cinemas.
