MUMBAI: Director Karan Johar and producer Gauri Khan have been slapped with a criminal case for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus by describing Lord Krishna’s companion Radha as `sexy’ in a song in their film Student of the Year.
Gauri (seen in the above picture with her husband and children) is the wife of Shah Rukh Khan.
The case has been filed in a court in Indore after a local NGO Shrivision Social Empowerment and Welfare Association filed a petition alleging that a song in the film hurt religious sentiments by referring to Radha as `sexy.’
A PTI report quoted police superintendent O.P. Tripathi as saying that an FIR has been filed against Karan Johar, Gauri and others under Section 295 of the Indian Penal Code.
Apart from Johar, Gauri and Dharma Productions House, those whose names figure in the FIR are Sony Music, lyricist Anveta Dutta, composers Vishal-Shekhar, singers Shreya Ghosal and Udit Narayan, and actors Alia Bhatt, Sidharath Malhotra and Varun Dhawan.
