NEW YORK: A Chinese company in Beijing making fake iPhones has been busted and nine persons arrested.
The Chinese news agency Xinhua said more than 40,000 fake iPhones worth $19.6 million were seized during the raid on July 25.
Six assembly lines for making fake iPhones were found inside the company. Police also recovered more than one million cell phone parts during the raid.
Xinhua said the company was under investigations after fake China-made cell phones were seized in the US.
The modus operandi of the busted company was to buy old phone main-boards from foreign countries and procure fake parts with logos from the city of Shenzhen.
The company had hired hundreds of workers to assemble the parts. Fake iPhones were sold to other countries.
