NEW DELHI: An MLA of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) dropped a bombshell on Monday by claiming that he was offered Rs 20 crore by the BJP to support the party form government in Delhi.
Making this `disclosure’ at a press conference here on Monday, Madan Lal, who represents Kasturba Nagar in the 70-member Delhi assembly, said that just a day before the Delhi assembly election results were announced on Dec 7 he was contacted by some unknown people from the BJP.
He said these unknown people called him and wanted him to speak to some top leaders in the BJP, including Arun Jaitley.
“I told him to shut up and put down the phone,’’ Madan Lal said.
He said he was also contacted by two men `on behalf of Narendra Modi’ a few days ago. The two men offered him Rs 20 crore and Rs 10 crore to any other AAP MLA if they joined the BJP in forming government in Delhi.
Madan Lal, “They told me that we are Modi’s people. I remember the name of one person, Sanjay Singh. Both were in their 40s. I asked them what is the work they had come to me for. They told me to wean away nine AAP lawmakers and form a party and align with the BJP.’’
He said he told his party high command about the two incidents. But one wonders why the AAP leadership kept quiet.
