OTTAWA (NEWS): Deepak Obhrai, MP and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with a visiting delegation of Burmese Parliamentarians on Monday in the House of Commons and discussed Canada’s parliamentary system of governance.
A delegation of nine senior Burmese MPs are visiting Ottawa this week to get a first-hand look at the Canadian parliamentary process including its division of powers between federal, provincial and municipal levels.

Obhrai (L) with U Thuyain Zaw, MP and Chairman of Public Accounts Committee of the Lower House in Burma.
The visit comes two months after Obhrai led a Canadian delegation of MPs to Burma to study Burma’s recent democratic reform efforts and to find ways on how Canada can help to strengthen democratic discourse in that country.
