CHICAGO: The Indian American community celebrated India’s 65th Republic Day at the Indian Consulate here.
Consul General Ausaf Sayeed unfurled the Tricolour amid applause by the gathering. This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
The Consul General then read the speech of President Pranab Mukherjee, extending his warmest greetings to Indians across the country and those living abroad. Adressing the countrymen, the President also notably recognized the contribution of the Indians living abroad.
Consul General Ausaf Sayeed and his wife mingled with the gathering and extended their greetings to everyone on this national day. He thanked the attendees for participating in the Republic Day celebrations.
The attendees were treated to delicious snacks during the event attended by Chicago’s elite, businessmen and community members.
