MUMBAI: The Shahrukh-Deepika starrer Chennai Express (CE) is chugging along at breakneck speed breaking all the previous records at the box-office.
The film, which opened on Friday, has already smashed its way into the 100-crore club. This is the fastest entry into the 100-crore club by a Bollywood film, breaking the record of Salman Khan-starrer Ek Tha Tiger which crossed the 100-crore mark in six days.
Chennai Express, which opened in 3,500 screens in India, collected Rs 33.12 crore on its opening, Rs. 28.05 crore on Saturday and Rs. 32.50 crore on Sunday.
The film has also raked in over Rs. 45 crore from overseas markets.
According to Prakhar Joshi, who is head of programming at PVR Cinemas, Chennai Express has created the record of biggest opening day at PVR.
With Chennai Express, Deepika Padukone has delivered her third straight hit after Cocktail and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
