TORONTO: Canada’s population has crossed the 35-million mark, according to the latest figures released on Thursday.
The figures released by Statistics Canada put the country’s population at 35,158,300 – up 404,000 from last year.
Ontario is Canada’s most populous province, accounting for 38.5 per cent of the country’s population.
French-speaking Quebec is the second most populous province as it accounts for 23.2 per cent of Canada’s population. British Columbia comes third with 13 percent and Alberta fourth with 11.4 percent of Canada’s population.
Canada has registered population growth rate of about 1.2 per cent since last year. Which means it has added 404,000 people to its population.
Out of these 404,000 new people added to Canada’s population, more than 250,000 are immigrants.
