MUMBAI: In a shocking incident in Bollywood, the body of a newborn girl was found in the swimming pool of film star Mohnish Behl’s bungalow at Parsik Hill in Kharegaon on Saturday.
The body, which was found in a polythene bag with a stone tied to it to ensure that it drowned in the water, was noticed by the watchman of the bungalow when he went around the building for his morning round.
“I was on my customary morning round of the bungalow when I suddenly saw something in the swimming pool. It was a baby girl’s body. It was wrapped in polythene and tied with a stone. I immediately called up sir (Behl),” Mid-Day quoted the watchman as saying.
Behl, who is the son of actress Nutan, and his wife Ekta rushed to the bungalow as the police reached the spot immediately.
A shaken Behl suspected it to be a case of female infanticide by someone living near by. “It was a two-day-old girl child and I suspect it to be a case of female infanticide. I really don’t understand this. If someone does not want a child, why can’t they give her away for adoption instead of killing her?” Behl was quoted as saying.
The swimming pool is not enclosed and is accessible to outsiders.
Doctors said the body had been in water for two days.
Since the bungalow is close to a cluster of slums, police suspect that someone from there might have dumped the body in the swimming pool.
