NEW DELHI: Friday is Valentine’s Day, and an Air India hostess might have planned something else for the day. So she refused to fly.
She had flown into Delhi from Mumbai to join the cabin crew on the Delhi-Sydney flight. But she reported sick from a New Delhi hotel where she was staying, saying that she could fly only on the short Dubai route, not the long flight to Australia.
The Air India management sent a doctor to check her and she was found perfectly okay. An angry management suspended the air hostess.
Two other air hostesses also refused to fly, saying that they have completed their duty hours.
The Dreamliner flight with 200 passengers left after two hours of delay only when the management found an alternative air hostess.
Because of crew and pilot shortage, when the Air India staff report to fly a particular flight they are asked to operate another flight to some other destination.
