MUMBAI: A family court here on Saturday directed Pakistani singer Adnan Sami to pay Rs 6.4 crore to his former wife Sabah Galadari and surrender his duplex flats in Andheri to her within two months.
Since Sami didn’t pay her as meher at the time of marriage, he has been directed to pay her Rs 10 lakh as meher now.
Galadhari, who is a UAE citizen, married Sami in 2001. But the couple divorced in 2004 to remarry in 2007 and then again divorce in June 2012.
The singer-musician is currently staying in the disputed duplex flats at Oberoi Sky Garden in the Lokhandwala Complex with his third wife Roya Faribi.
But Galadari claimed that the flats are her matrimonial home. The flats were bought by Sami but gifted to her after their marriage.
In her petition, she said that Sami refused to hand over the flats to her when they separated.
Alleging blackmail and harassment by the singer, she demand the return of Rs 5.3 crore she had lent him and the flats.
Delivering the verdict, family judge IM Bohari ordered Sami to return the money and additionally pay Rs 1 crore to Galadari as compensation for harassment and blackmail.
Sami will have to surrender the flats to her within two months.
