MUMBAI: Yet another Bollywood has collapsed.
Actor-singer Farhan Akhtar, 42, and his much older Hindu wife Adhuna, 48, have decided to end their 15-year-old marriage.
Farhan met Adhuna during the making of his film Dil Chahta Hai and married her in 2000. They have two children – Shakya and Akira
The reason for the split is reported to be Farhan Akhtar’s growing proximity to actress Aditi Rao Hydari with whom he has worked in the film Wazir. Farhan and Aditi were seen holding hands at Karan Johar’s party.
Ending their inter-religious marriage, the couple issued a statement, saying, “This is to announce that we, Adhuna and Farhan, have mutually and amicably decided to separate. Our children remain our priority and it is immensely important to us, as responsible parents, that they be protected from unwarranted speculation and public glare. We sincerely request that we are given the privacy that is required at this time to move forward in a dignified manner.’’
A hairstylist, Adhuna Bhabani launched her own salon Juice in 1998 at Worli in Mumbai. The name of the salon was later changed to BBlunt.
Farhan is the son of famous Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar. Adhuna was born in Liverpool to a Bengali father Dr Asheem Bhabani and a British mother Anne. She spent first 25 years of her life in Britain.
