LONDON: A brave and duty-conscious London traffic warden issued a ticket to former US First Lady Hillary Clinton for parking violation even as her security guards tried to stop him.
But this London traffic warden wouldn’t listen to them and left the £80 ticket on Hillary Clinton’s vehicle.
Clinton, the former US secretary of state, was in London on Saturday to receive an award for her contribution to international diplomacy.
When she arrived at Chatham House in central London to attend the event, her vehicle was parked in the parking bay which costs £3.30 hour.
But a London traffic warden came and found Clinton’s vehicle being parked without paying. So as he proceeded to leave a £80 parking ticket on her vehicle, Hillary’s guards, who were sitting in a Mercedes parked next to her vehicle, jumped out and tried to argue with the traffic warden.
In fact, one of Hillary’s security guards was seen angrily flashing his badge at the warden who won’t listen and went ahead with issuing the ticket to the former US secretary of state.
Defending the action by the traffic warden, Westeminster Councillor Daniel Astaire told Daily Mail, “Despite our traffic marshal being questioned by the secret service for just doing his job, he was in the right. The former US Secretary of State was parked for nearly 45 minutes without paying. I’m sure she will understand that we have to be fair to everyone, regardless of their status on the world stage. For future reference, Mrs Clinton can now also download a parking app for her iPhone which will tell her in real time where a parking space is in the City of Westminster.”
If Hillary Clinton pays the penalty within 14 days, it will be £40. After that period, she will have to pay the full amount of £80 for parking violation.
many years ago, a traffic warden issued a ticket to the queen of England’s chauffeur (despite all the other security cars along with her) cos he thought maybe they were testing him to see if he really did his job ‘propah’! He was rewarded instead of castigated. in India the officer would be drawn and quartered if he issued a ticket to even a lowly corporator
