MISSISSAUGA: As a mortgage broker, one gets frequently asked how the rising loonie (Canadian dollar) that shot up to 80 cents vis-a-vis the US dollar will affect the real estate market in Toronto.
Well, the 10 percent rise in the loonie since May technically means that the economy is robust and that some of that positivity should rub off on real estate and send prices rising if one was only looking at locals buying for personal use.

The University of Toronto alone has reported a 57 percent jump in applications for admission from students from India, says a report by the BBC.
Overall, Canada’s premier university has reported a 20 percent jump in foreign students seeking admission.

After the controversy over the use of Ganesha images over leggings by a Texas company, now yoga mats have appeared in the US with images of Hindu deities Ganesha, Durga and Hanuman.
These yoga mats have been produced by Spiritual Revolution, a company based at Gladwyne in Pennsylvania.
Angry Hindu groups have asked the company to withdraw the mats as they offend Hindu sentiments.
