NEW DELHI: Pakistani executed police commando Mumtaz Qadri who had shot dead Punjab Governor Salman Taseer in Jan 2011.

Dawn reported that Qadri was hanged in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi early Monday morning.

NEW YORK: A Saudi man has been jailed for 10 years and sentenced to 2,000 lashes for his atheist views.

Atheists are equated with terrorists under Saudi laws.

Saudi moral police in Riyadh said the 28-year-man made more than 600 tweets in which he denied the existence of God and expressed his views about verses in the Koran.

LONDON: A gang of Pakistani brothers in Rotherham in Britain, who groomed white girls for sex, has been given long jail terms by a court. Jailed also is their shameless uncle.

The three brothers – Arshid Hussain (40), Basharat Hussain (39) and Bannaras Hussian (36) – and their uncle Qurban Ali (53) have become known as the Rotherham gang.

TORONTO: Citing India’s `appalling’ record on treatment of prisoners, the British Columbia’s Appeal Court in Vancouver has stopped deportation of a man and his sister to India to face trial for the honour killing of the man’s niece in Punjab.

Surjit Badesha and his sister Malkit Sidhu had hired contract killers to eliminate Malkit’s daughter Jassi (Jaswinder) Sidhu in June 2000 because she had married a lower-caste autorickshaw driver in Punjab.
