Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave won the Oscar for Best Picture even as Sundra Bullock and George Clooney-starrer Gravity bagged seven Academy Awards at the 86th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The Oscar for Best Actor in lead role went to Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club) and for Best Actress in lead role to Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine). The Oscar for Best Director went to Alfonso Cuaron for Gravity.
Gravity, which was nominated for Oscars in as many as 10 categories, led the night with seven Academy Awards, followed by 12 Years a Slave and Dallas Buyers Club with three each.
The evening’s first Oscar went to Jared Leto for Best Supporting Actor in Dallas Buyers Club.
